Subject: Down Under in Bermuda!

Today started off a bit brisk (to the team members from Florida anyway…) We all met at 0900 to load Annie and Gil’s vehicles with the gear for today’s event. The surface team worked together to set up the Human ROV system while the divers prepared to begin their test dive. The purpose of the morning test dive was to ensure that the communications gear was working properly and for the divers to become familiar with the cave. On the surface, Annie and Jack Ward, director of Conservation Services for Bermuda, set up a tent to prevent glare on the monitor screen for the presentation.

Subject: Houston..we have a problem…

We woke this morning to another windy but beautiful day. Just after we finished a quick breakfast, Gil, Annie, and Jen arrived at our cottages at 9:00, and off we went to Cliff Pool. Mrs. Tucker, the landowner, came out to greet us, and we thanked her for allowing us access to her property. This is the same location where we will be doing the human ROV broadcast experience for the students at Cedarbridge High School and Berkeley Academy during our stay here.

Subject: Welcome! Bermuda Biodiversity Project 2006!

Back in February of 2005, the Cambrian Foundation was invited to attend a strategic planning workshop led by Anne Glasspool, Ph.D., of the Bermuda Zoological Society in an effort to create a team of researchers and educators who were committed to developing a blueprint for cave conservation on the Island. With over 150 known caves on the island, Bermuda supports a diverse assemblage of aquatic cave species that make these ecosystems exceptional.
