Subject: Dugong Or NOT Dugong…That Is The Question!

The team is a bit shorter for today’s dive. Andy and I missed our team members terribly and decided we must continue onward! We were “wheels up” at 0745 on our way to Rock Springs with all necessary equipment on board. The park was even quieter this morning when we arrived than on Saturday. What a beautiful spring!!

Subject: Hammer Time

Today at 0800-ish our team assembled at Kelly Park with manager Joe Brandon to discuss the day’s events. We had a very nice chat with him, completed a bit of necessary paperwork and then headed down to the parking area to get prepped for the dive. At this time, it is very, very quiet in the park. We are the first to arrive and the spring run is pristine.

Subject: Location, location, location

Over the past few years the Cambrian Foundation has slowly extended the exploration in Rock Springs at Kelly Park. The current end of the line is at about 1000 feet of linear penetration at an area of breakdown which appears to communicate with the surface, judging by the large amount of surface debris visible (crockery, rusted paint tins, tree branches etc). We knew from survey of the underwater cave roughly where this might be above ground, but there are also a large number of depressions on the surface and it is difficult to know which of these might correspond to the underwater location.
